Empowering Students: StudyStash's AI-Powered Education Platform

StudyStash delivers an AI-powered web-app which promises to empower students through their GCSE’S, A-Levels and at University. The business is founded by Computer Science finalists Ben Ward and Jonathan Graham.

Ben: StudyStash is the stress free, fun way to revise.
We offer a better way to prepare for exams, transforming traditional education into a personalised experience through a user-friendly and seamless user interface across all devices.

At university, I'm part of the outreach team and I mentor mathematics, physics, biology and work with disadvantaged/under-achieving students at Harborne Academy.

I quickly realised the majority of students struggled with motivation, organisation and having the right materials/tools to succeed at school. Being from a technical background studying Computer Science Jonathan and I thought of tools we could build that would be a unified solution to this major learning deficit left after Covid-19.

StudyStash was created by Jonathan and Ben whilst studying at University. We first came across the B-Enterprising team as they offered funding for their 'Ideas Fund'. This immediately caught our attention and from then on, Bob and Kerry have been influential in our success. They've supported us financially, with advice and so much more.

Running your own business comes with some incredible aspects too. My personal favourite is running and having the responsibility of looking after a team of 10. It's great to see everyone working together towards a common goal; to empower students to do well in their exams.

The biggest takeaway from creating StudyStash has been that you shouldn't worry about your age. Being young means people often try to take advantage and they don't realise your full potential.

At University, I'm part of the outreach team and I mentor mathematics, physics, biology and work with disadvantaged/under-achieving students at Harborne Academy. To date, we've generated a huge amount of market interest from Universities, Schools, Trusts, Professional Service Firms, ACA examinations and Charities. We've also built a fully functional web-app, hired 8 interns and had hundreds of sign-ups.

Furthering that, Nicola Gittins and Ana Madan from B-Enterprising have given us a lot of their time and helped us get on the UoB Elevate Incubator program where we won a scholarship for StudyStash.

Jonathan and I both became friends at UoB through Comp. Sci and are living together in the Jewellery Quarter. One of the worst things is that sometimes we argue about how things should work, but that's also how we thrive. We're not afraid of saying what we think and that leads to the best solution.

Another great feeling is when we get a lot of market interest and people willing to help our journey without expecting anything in return.

My advice for anyone thinking of starting up?
Just jump! What's the worst that's going to happen. Releasing, setting deadlines and just doing it is the best advice we can give to new start-ups.

Often younger entrepreneurs have the most motivation and can have the agility of a new startup. They're also technically able to produce products and services which are so much stronger than full teams and people who tell you that you can't do it!

StudyStash was first created only 4 months ago. Since then, we're in the process of securing 4 large clients ranging from Universities, Charities, Trusts and Schools. We've had market interest from all kinds of industries and have brought 8 other people on the journey with us.

Hitting 60,000+ social media impressions, having a growing user base and growing a community, StudyStash should be a perfect example of what two motivated students can achieve in a short period of time. Please reach out to us if you would like to hear our journey in person or would like to join our growing team.

If you are looking to get help for your own idea, please visit the B-Enterprising website for more information.

With thanks to Ben Ward and Jonathan Graham
