UoB start-up founders celebrated at Inspirational Youth Awards 2023

University of Birmingham start-up founders found success in the Inspirational Youth
Awards 2023. The final took place at Eastside Rooms in Birmingham city centre on Friday 29 April.

Harriet Noy, founder of Hazaar won the Young innovator of the Year Award category. The University of Birmingham Economics graduate set up Hazaar, a zero waste marketplace for UK university students. A huge congratulations to Harriet!

Congratulations also to these start-up founders who were shortlisted in the final:

Martha Harrison from Calico Theatre was shortlisted in two categories - the Arts and Culture Award category and also the Young Campaigner of the Year category. Calico Theatre create socially driven campaigns through performance and dance.

Louise Lyons-Appiah, founder of Breathe Uni was shortlisted in the Young Leader of the Year category. Her business offers a safe space for students to learn about mental health, personal development and equality.

Dan Bridgewater is the founder of Buckt and was part of the judging panel for this years awards. His business is listed as the UK's only mystery ticket subscription service offering bucket list style events to customers across the UK. 

Harriet, Martha, Louise and Dan are all part of the University of Birmingham's start-up incubator, UoB Elevate. Applications to join the next cohort in September 2023 are now open for students and graduates with growth businesses. Apply now!
