third sector and the City of Birmingham.
Are you passionate about making a social difference and want to work with others who feel the same way?
I'm a Graduate, why should I care about a social enterprise programme?
The Third Sector is facing a battering right now. With sector cuts, the challenges of sustainability and profitability, shortages of skills and access to grant funding, charities and social enterprises are in need of help.
Where better, than to seek the assistance of graduates.
Whose involved?
Social enterprises in Birmingham, I-SE and the University of Birmingham are committed to tackle the wider higher level skills disparities that exist across the sector, nurturing future leaders to innovate through collaboration and boost productivity to transform local communities and improve people's lives.
Why me? (a graduate of the University of Birmingham)
As graduates, you possess a fresh way of seeing things. Armed with critical thinking, team-work, communication, research and problem-solving skills (as a result of your University experience,) you are well placed to affect positive change, submerged in the right learning environment.
Students who graduated in 2017/18 from the University are wanted. Not only to potentially join, but to help create a unique programme that is far more than a paid placement with a bit of training & development. This programme must be built to enhance the social impact of a host organisation in Birmingham. It must utilise graduates' strengths, passions and curiosities, to create positive change with others, benefiting the City.
The Programme so far...
The University is planning a paid 6 month or 12 month placement in a host growing social enterprise (Birmngham-based). Recent graduates will get to work within a senior management team, on a project(s) that tackles society's biggest challenges. You'll receive monthly training and development with your peer cohort (1 day release) facilitated by professionals from Industry, and be exposed to wider connections across sectors, organisations and subject disciplines. You'll also receive a mentor. All this to fast-track your career in the third sector, the public sector or within organisations with social values. The experience may even help you start your own business!
