It's nearly the start of term...
But have you really thought about making the most of your time here?
Reflect and make time to find out about the wealth of opportunities at Birmingham. University isn't all about study. It's about discovery, and shaping who you want to be in the future.
Make your mark.
Make a difference by making things happen.
At the start of term, I expect your mind is focused on making friends, seeing old friends and getting back into your studies. But did you know that in the autumn term, there are so many things to discover, that can shape who you are as a person and vitally, enable you to make a positive difference to others?
Use your time wisely to find out about clubs and societies at the Guild of Students to build skills, networks and interests. Attend Careers Fairs. Find out about different job sectors. Hear from large and smaller organisations through our 'Getting to know', 'Insight Series' and Business Treks to discover internships and graduate jobs - most open to any subject discipline.
You can also gain funds to make your ideas happen. Travel aboard and undertake an international internship; start your own business; freelance! And if you're interested in social action, how about joining 'Up Our Street' working with local voluntary organisations to help transform people's lives in our local area?
When you come to University, make sure you don't end up wishing that you had got involved in something. Take a deep breath, participate and importantly, have fun.
